Hours of Illustrations

I am now working on the illustrations for my current research and design project. I have drawn all my illustrations by hand, scanned them in and am working into them with colour, using Photoshop. I have never used Photoshop to shade in colour before and am having to learn quickly to get these finished for Tuesday. I am quite pleased with the finished result so far but can't believe how long it has taken just to finish these 4! 4 down....12 to go.

Wish List.....

I adore the print on this make-up bag from Mac's collaboration collection with Liberty of London. Too bad that it seems everyone else loves it too and its sold out everywhere!

What would you give back to London?

Paul Smith was asked "What would you give back to London?". He answered with this quirky litter bin, designed to improve the city's streets. The bin was designed as part of a Super Contemporary exhibition held at the Design Museum.

The rabbit 'rewards' the public by lighting up its ears when you put rubbish into its 'carrot bag'. It would certainly brighten up your day much more than an overflowing black bin.

I love the idea of established designers having an input into our everyday life. If small, mundane tasks like putting your litter into a bin can be given a fun, designer edge, then why not make the day that little bit more amusing?

French Connection

While shopping in French Connection this week a number of items caught my eye. I wouldn't mind a few pieces from their current collection!

I love the ruffled sleeves of this dress in contrast to the sleek, fitted body. I also like the print which was also used on other garments in a range of colours.

The quirky image on this sweater caught my eye. I like the unusual combination of jersey and sequins. I think its likely to be popular with the recent release of Alice in Wonderland.

Nonwoven

I am currently working on a nonwovens group project and have been making this blouse over the holidays. We are making two outfits inspired by Valentino's Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection. I finally got the sewing of the blouse finished today. The fabric is a complete nightmare to work with! Now its finished, I have got the scary task of dying it pink....... I just hope it survives!

Here is a picture of it from a couple of weeks ago. It now has its left front and sleeve, a ruffle collar and ruffles at the hem. It also has a button stand. My computer doesn't want to let me upload a more recent photograph!

J'Adore

I want to go back please! :)

Coco

I recently watched Coco Before Chanel and thought it was an amazingly inspiring film. The costumes throughout were gorgeous and I instantly warmed to Tautou's character, Gabrielle. I absolutely love period dramas and this has become one of my favourite! Anne Fontaine really created a world into which the audience is pulled... The world of Coco Chanel.....I wish I could be there!
